The Layne Hotel is a good little and quaint place to stay. I felt safe and secure during my stay. The staff was fairly friendly and amicable and helped solve any issues. The location is comfortable, about a 10-15 minute walk from Chinatown. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel was clean and safe feeling, perfect for women travellers. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The room had a walk-in wardrobe and all the necessary amenities, including a hairdryer. The staff was extremely helpful and available 24/7 at reception.

Being in the tenderloin district, looking out the window and down on the hotel for the homeless across the street, we viewed drug deals going down in the early evening as well as one male homeless knocking down a homeless woman. That added spice to our adventure. THE CLOSENESS TO GOOD RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE WAS A BIG PLUS. ALSO, THE CLOSENESS TO A PARKING GARAGE MADE OUR STAY EASIER. THE HOTEL ELEVATOR REMINDED ME OF THE ONE IN THE MOVIE, ROSEMARY'S BABY.
We may book there again but for the sake of adventure we may try a different hotel in the same area, such as the hotel california.

Great central location, friendly, helpful staff, clean, comfortable room, shared bathrooms/showers clean and only 3 rooms share. Coffee, tea and pastry in lobby every morning was nice and they play public radio. Security is tight and owners are on premises which really gave me peace of mind. Quite a diversity of clientele which was fun.
